LT1 in 3rd gen
My son and I did all the overhaul and fab work, and thanks for asking. What drove the cost up was my desire to have some non engine things like a new fuel tank, I used a radiator out of a 4th gen, the tranny alone was a grand. Plus things like a high pressure fuel pump, -6 lines, the harness was $500 and those thousand little things that I didn't get with my $200 "deal" like brackets, an alternator, power steering pump, an Opti, and that damn little hose from the PCV valve to the intake manifold that my Chevy dealer charged me $10 for.
If I did it again
I would go with my original idea, find a complete car first! Sound like you are miles ahead of where I started, but man did I enjoy doing the swap, especially the first 200 ft burnout in front of the house.

now only if my car will sell. will i buy a 4th gen or try to stretch the 6-7k i get for my vette and do the swap. only time will tell. but from my past.. i keep going the easy route and buying the damn whole car. really wish i woulda swapped about 6 years ago
