lt1 383 build

Ok im sure im probably going to get trashed for not having a camaro...but my 95 lt1 m6 bird is broke down with a bad tranny and while the transmissions out i was going to build a 383...i found a complete bottom end with eagle crank and rods with keith black pistons for 900 brand new the crank is externally balanced. will i have to get that internally balanced? and im porting and polishing the heads and intake myself to cut down on the cost...so I dont know what size cam to go with or which roller rockers to go with either i want to do a full roller 383 and try to get as much horsepower as i can also planning on using 42# injectors and getting a dyno tune... with a slight bore to take care of the lip on the cylinders...is there ANYTHING that you guys would do different but the thing that bothers me is the balancing issue thanks in advance for the input THANKS

Do you have any head porting experience? A well build 355 will be faster than a Mediocre 383.

The stock LT1 is neutral (zero) balance at the front and has an external balance counterweight on the flywheel/flexplate. Internal balance has some theoretical advantages, but an external balance motor can also work well. In any case, the crank, a rod/piston/ring unit, and the flywheel and harmonic damper will all need to go to the machine/balance shop. This is true even if you go for external balance because you don't know if the amount of external balance weight is correct on the stock flywheel. If they are close, it may be a lot cheaper to stick with external balance.

I am a fan of aluminum rockers and have used Crane and Harland Sharp over the years with no complaints, but theoretically a steel rocker like the ever popular Comp Pro-Magnum is going to have a longer service life.

No one will have any problems with the fact that you have a Firebird.

thanks for the input guys but i would also like to know what some of you guys would add on to what i have like cam size? the heads are getting ported to i would say to pretty much the max the rods are 6" and the crank is 3.75 and are made to clear a .600 valve opening...im just not sure on how to calculate the cfm of the heads and intake to choose what cam...all i ever done was put the things together and port the heads the boss done all the math
