LT1 1996 suddenly died cranking won't start no spark
Re: LT1 1996 suddenly died cranking won't start no spark
Belgrade, Serbia, Southeast Europe, city over 2.5 mln people, many auto shops and car services, but no one won't to deal with american cars, only one specialised service for vehicles from USA and they are so bad and fraudsters without enough knowledge. I have just 2-3 men who can jump in, most german and french vehicles and a little bit of japanese and korean on the strees, but I'll stick with my favorite US muscles, there can be only one!

Lol, good one Rob, in that case I'll use on of the How to diagrams from your shoebox 😁
Beside joke, I already tried it what Fred suggested and didn't see a spark in that way until I attached the motorcycle spark plug on the end of coil wire. Will try it again later today or tomorrow.
Anyway, general question, without auto shops, if it is a failure of ICM or coil, not the opti, how can be sure what of this two parts is died?

Measured resistance on coil pins, on all of three 5530 ohms, as I see it's a stock coil, rivets still on their places, nothing changed
Coil wire end have spark when cranks, checked again today when I reattached back coil and ICM with new coil wire. I can post somewhere videos to see.

Re: LT1 1996 suddenly died cranking won't start no spark
Hello friends,
The repair is finally done and everything is put back on its place. It was a cap and rotor problem. The rotor cracked on 3 parts, while the cap also had a some little damages next to couple of its terminals.
Replaced rotor and cap (bought Standard Motor Products from Rockauto, and it seemed to be the same as OEM genuine, absolutely the same look) coil (ACDelco), spark plugs (ACDelco GM OE gapped on 0.05"), wires (ACDelco), water pump (ACDelco), thermostat (ACDelco), gaskets (Fel-Pro), complete coolant drained and flushed from block side of engine, optical sensor checked, it's on its place without anything damaged, without debris, gris, dirt etc, everything looks fine and like it should be, satisfied at last
I wanna say big thank you to everyone who jumped in and helped with many useful suggestions and advices, especially Fred, Rob, chevykid and Chimera 96, thank you guys a lot
Nikola

Re: LT1 1996 suddenly died cranking won't start no spark
Check to see if you have spark coming from the coil wire going into the optispark. If you do and there is no spark coming out of any spark plug wire, you probably have rotor failure in the opti. You said died while overtaking, so I am taking that as a high (or higher than normal) rpm scenario which is when opti rotor failures normally occur. A cap and rotor kit would fix a rotor failure problem.
