Jonez, you did both from up top? Do you think this would work if I jacked it up instead of hoisted it? Kris, I work on cars 8 hours a day. I am having conflicting issues on how to jack it up. It's tough to decide what to do when people you don't know on the internet tell you that one way is unsafe, and then people on the internet tell you another way. If you don't like my thread, please don't poke fun at me. I also made this post because I was told by more than one person (on the net) that I need to jack the car up at least 36 inches. I'm sorry if I just wanted to do it as safe as possible and take input from people who have done this. I was double checking because I wasn't understanding fully what he was saying.

EDIT: it is now a 3 page thread that is SIMPLY about how to jack up a car

MY personal experience with this is that even with the motor jacked ALL THE WAY to the cowl, mine would not slide in from the top. Your results may vary.

I haven't read the whole post, but dude, just jack up the car and slip 'em in from the bottom. Here's a pic:

You can see that the rear tires are still on the ground (blocked with e-brake set) and the front it pretty fricken high in the air. The motor is still jacked up in that pic.

EDIT: Copy and paste the link into your browser to see it.

i had my car very high, and my jet hotts wouldn't go in, they litterally had to go in completely verticle,,so the car had to be at least 2 feet off the gound i would imagine,,i ended up having to take mine to a lift...
