The LS1 kit (NOS 5177) sprays in front of the MAF sensor, and the mass flow signal to the PCM causes it to add the required fuel through the stock injectors. NOS claims this works on the LS1 because 1) the PCM has a much faster processing/calculation rate than the LT1; 2) the PCM stays in closed loop at WOT. Point 2) has been challenged by some LS1 owners, but that's what NOS published. Since it uses the stock fuel pump/pressure, it also limits the kit to a 100-125HP shot.

The LT1 kit (NOS 5176) sprays behind the MAF sensor, and increases the fuel pressure to add the extra fuel. It adds an inline booster fuel pump, and uses a signal from the nitrous line to apply a pressure to the vacuum fitting on the fuel pressure regulator. The PCM is still calculating fuel rates based on the N/A tuning, and the extra pressure increases the fuel flow for the calculated pulse width.

In general, it is risky to spray through the MAF sensor on an LT1, although I have seen posts from a couple of people who say they are doing it with no problems. If you were to try this, it would require that you keep a very close eye on the plugs until you could verify that the A/F ratio was correct.

You might want to post this on the N2O board, to find the guys that are spraying dry N2O LT1's in front of the MAF.
