IMO, it seems like you don't have the expertise/knowledge to go buying a bunch of parts. You would be better off with a total solution from some place like Combination Motorsports (see supporting vendor list at the top of the page). Or at least read up on building engines so you know what you are doing.

[edit] This was meant as a constructive observation. You need all the knowledge you can get to put an engine together and there is a ton of it out there to learn.

hey shoebox,

I looked at the Combination Motorsports, but I have no clue what I need to get. One of my family members does all this and is doing it for me, but he wants me to get all the parts. Isint there like a full engine rebuild kit I could just buy that comes with everything I need?

Just noting them as one place where you can get the things you need. They are nice people and if you call and tell them what you are doing, they will recommend/supply what you need.

Now, my question is WHY are we rebuilding the engine. Is there a problem with it, really high mileage?

Yea, really high mileage. pretty low on compression
