LS1 12-bolt in a LT1 ?

I found a 12 bolt in a car being parted out. It is a LS1 car with TC and ABS. My 96' has ABS only. Can a use this rear with minor modifications or will it just not work?

The stock LS1 rear and LT1 rear are one and the same. Same goes for 12-bolts. The only difference on the LS1s is that they need some sort of brake backing plate that the LT1 doesnt. Either way you can use it.

U can use it but you'll lose your abs because it won't have a hole in the differential for your sensor, nor a tone ring on the ring gear. I drilled my rear out to accept the sensor, but never got the tone ring installed.

There was jsut another post on this, or search my name for more details, i usually post in rear swap ?s because i had these issues with my swap of a TC 4ch rear into a 3ch car.

You will only lose abs is the 12 bolt comes from a 4 series car, if it comes from a 3 series you are golden.

As said above, they are one in the same other than the caliper brackets. You need to space them out slightly to use the ls1 rear in the lt1. I used washers, and wheel spacers to get it to work.

Does anyone know if I will have a problem getting inspected with the ABS light on?

He said the LS1 had TC which implies that it's four channel and his only has abs which indicates 3 channel.

I don't think they can fail you for having an abs light on as long as the brakes work and it's just the abs system inacctivated. You could pull the light in the dahs and they'd probably never notice.
