Lowering CR on stock LT1 head
Lowering CR on stock LT1 head
Have any of you lowered CR signifigantly on the stock LT1 heads by opening up the chambers? I'm trying to go from 54cc to 64+cc. Looking to get to 9.5 to 1. Thanks, TJ

Im tellin ya, do it now when you have the money and then you wont be paying to rip the engine apart twice later down the road.

As far as moving the thread goes, it sure seems like one of the more advanced tech questions I've seen on the board. There may be a few LS1 guys who graduated from LT1s that could have helped me. Whatever...
If you can find a thicker gasket, you'll gain a few extra cc's. I believe the stock gasket height is 0.039", the other common gasket heigh for small blocks is 0.041", I don't know which one is stock, but its worth a shot.
The stock gasket is .049". I don't know anyone trying to lower their CR with the stock bottom end, most want to go the other way. Putting a thicker head gasket than stock wouldn't be a great idea (if one is even available) because you make a bad quench height even worse.
Tony, post this on the Force Induction Forum. Explain to the guys that you want to put a blower on your LT1, the type of blower, the desire boost psi, etc...
I think they can give you some pointers there, as far as what else you can do to get your CR lowered.
