low RPM miss.... fixed
low RPM miss.... fixed
Mine was a little easier to diagnose than some, but I'm so glad it's done! Before I bore you with all the details, yes, it was the Opti.
It felt like I was hitting my rev limiter when I would take off from a dead stop, the harder I tried to launch, the worse it was. It got much worse after I drove home in a very heavy rain, so immediately I thought Opti. And it only did it when the engine was at operating temp. I did countless searches on the subject, and all that did was solidify my decision to start with the Opti, even though my mind was telling me to swallow my pride and take it to the dealer to get it scanned.
Anyway, I did Opti and converted to a CSI electric water pump at the same time. I'm just so glad that it's fixed, I had to post here to thank all you guys for all your help, even though it was indirect. I took it out tonight, and gave it hell, and it never missed a lick. I can't wait to get it to the track next saturday to see if this has been the problem with my 60' (2.0) all along.
Thanks again, guys, and best of luck to all you with similar problems. Also, thanks to a link found here with detailed instructions, I finished the job fairly quickly and guess-free. It helps having all the tools ready when you start a project like this.

P.S. Woohoo!

I figured it was way too much $$ to do the vented conversion. Hopefully, there will be a better alternative to the Optispark by the time I have to do it again.

Nothing better than a strong running LT1.
I have said it before and I will say it again if you have a close to stock car the Dynaspark is the best out there. I know it is expensive, but cars run so good with them. I will never get rid of my car so I invested and love the dynaspark. I also puchased this car new in April of 1994.

Damn dude, that sucks!! That's why Ive been hesitant to do mine, because Ive read posts of people thinking the OPTI fixed it then after a while it starts up again. I suggest checking your plugs and wires again just to make sure.
I did find one spark plug loose. I tightened it, and it ran good again for a few minutes, then it started again. I'm going to let it cool down and go look around again. I noticed a small H20 leak around my thermostat that I gotta fix first. That's all I need is to trash another Opti

I replaced the coil, and (knock on wood) it's been 3 days since it's stumbled off the line. Took it to the track last night, and it never missed a lick, all 6 runs were between 8.55 & 8.57 :-) (I'm a bracket racer, so that's good)
I broke down and took it to the dealer, I was desperate. They took their time and finally came up with: "that MSD coil you've got on there is a piece of junk. We can put a GM coil on there for you for $225." LMAO, I went to O'reilly and bought a $14.99 coil and it took me less than 30 minutes to put on. They did end up with 80 of my dollars, but I'm just glad it's done. (hopefully)
