low revs=low oil pressure. what gives?

Ok fellows-I sure hope that some of you can help me out with this one. Car doesn't burn a drop of oil, but at idle and low revs, it reads at the quarter slash mark, but when I rev it up, it goes up to exactly the mid mark-which is where it sits when I'm cruising (at 2000 revs or higher). Any thoughts? I just changed my oil (mobil 1) so I know its not a clogged filter.

The oilpump will increase pressure as it comes up in RPM, Alot of people have reported lower oilpressure after switching to synthetic oils. As long as its 15 to 20 at idle (no lower than 10 at the very least) you'll be ok. You did say that it comes up to the 40 or so mark when you are on the gas right?

that's how it should be with synthetic, and how mine has been for the past 2 1/2 years that i've owned it.

Well, I don't know what those "slash marks" represent in terms of pressure, but it will read lower pressure at lower revs. My 97 has numbers.

If I remember right the first mark is 20 PSI.

I'm pretty sure it goes in incraments of 20. Red - 0 Quarter - 20 Half - 40 3/4 - 60 and Last Line - 80. Thats how it is on my '94z.
