Lightbulb Low Resolution Pulse

Mmmm darn code keeps popping its head out

replaced my opti with a new one as i was told the low resolution pulse code was the sure sign of a failing opti.(my original has only 45k since new)

few hundred mile later and she has cut out on me twice (intermitently) and each time after a scan she gives code low resolution pulse.

could it perhaps be the wiring from the opti to the ecm???

chows

Re: Low Resolution Pulse

Check the Opti wiring harness connectors, both the one on the Opti and the gray one on the bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

The code sets when the PCM can't find the low res pulse signal. I suspect it happens from time to time on startup on some cars. If the car is running, its a "stored" code, since the engine will not run at all if its an "active" code. PCM shuts down the fuel system, including pump and injectors. The fact that you are experiencing a "cut out" would seem to confirm either the sensor or the wiring is faulty.

Re: Low Resolution Pulse

This same thing happens to me, car won't start occasionaly, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, starts right up with an SES light, go get it scanned and its 1371 low res pulse. I have a pretty new opti too, less then 10k miles on it. Don't know what the deal is but I guess I should clean and check the wiring and try blowing air through the vent tubes and all the other "opti" tricks.

If you believe that a new Opti guarantees the problem is not in the Opti, you are naive. Did you get a complete new, GM OEM Opti?

For the Delteq or the LTcc to work, they need the pulse patterns from the Opti. And, your stock PCM needs the low res pulse pattern, no matter what ignition system you are running. Without the low res pulse from the Opti, the car will not run - period.
