Low fuel pressure bad?
Low fuel pressure bad?
I just had my injectors flow tested at a local garage and the guy told me that they atomize the best at about 38psi. he told me to set it at that for WOT and let it be whatever for idle. Right now it is at 30psi at idle and 38psi for WOT. Is this bad to run that low? The car has something worng with it but it occurred before this fuel injector thing. I don't know what is wrong with it but it dynoed at 194 and downshifts bad and vibrates... the lost goes on.
Re: Low fuel pressure bad?
I would think that the stock injectors would spray better at the stock FP (43-47 at WOT).
If you have lots going on with the running, I would advise staying with stock so as to eliminate a possible source of trouble. JMHO

Re: Low fuel pressure bad?
How did he "set it"? Do you have an aftermarker adjustable fuel pressure regulator? If not, there's no way for him to "set it".
It should be running at 43.5psi, at idle with the vacuum line disconnected from the FPR, and hold that pressure at WOT with the vacuum line connected. Don't worry about what the pressure is when you reconnect the vacuum line... that's just there to hold the DIFFERENTIAL fuel pressure (difference between rail pressure and intake manifold pressure) at a constant 43.5psi.
Lowering the fuel pressure reduces the fuel flow through the injectors. The stock 94-97 injectors are rated to flow 24.9 #/Hr (PCM flow data) at 43.5psi. By running 38psi, your injectors are now flowing only 23.3 #/HR. This is forcing the learned long term fuel corrections (BLM's) to elevate to maintain the required A/F ratio, extending your injector pulse widths, and unecessarily increasing the duty cycle on your injectors.
You might want to think about adding a "signature" that includes the year of your car, and any major mods, to help people provide you with more accurate responses.

Re: Low fuel pressure bad?
Not sure why you even asked the question if you aren't interested in correcting the problem. If I read your original post correctly, you have an engine that only makes 194rwHP. Sounds sort of sick. Why not set at many of the variables as possible to "spec", eliminating those as contributors to your many problems, then work on finding out what is wrong.
Oh well,
Oh well,
