Camaro wont rev past 500 rpm
So i just bought a 94 camaro z28 from a buddy. His dad washed the engine and it wouldnt start so he changed the plugs, wires and opti spark and it still wouldnt start so it sat for 3 years. When i got it i pumped all the old fuel out. Put a new coil on it and it started but it only stays running at full throttle but it wont rev higher than 500 rpm so does anyone have a clue on what it could be. Btw i checked the fuel pressure and it was good if that helps.

Did you change the fuel filter? Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Might need to run a data log from the PCM to see what sensors are working, and what ones aren't.

have you hooked up a vacuum gauge to it? I like to use the port going to the A/C, as that's the least intrusive. that will tell you if you need to do a compression test or not. Its easiest to look at how much current the starter is drawing as it cranks for the compression test vs pulling all the plugs and going from cylinder to cylinder with the compression gauge.
