The other day i was driving and decited to floor it from about a 15 - 20 mph roll and when my tach got to around 5 - 5.5 grand i felt this huge loss in power and 3 loud bangs from under the hood kinda like backfire through the intake... i try it again today..didn't do it the first 2 time but the 3rd time it happend again. what could be causing this im really worried about it.

 

Coil or plug wire is my guess.

 

any other guesses before i take it in?

 

What about fuel pump....could that be the cause...don't know if its backfiring out the intake or sever knock

 

My car did the same thing when the opti went. High RPM with high load is the most stressful time on ignitions.

 

I hope thats the only problem cause iv been meaing to replace that anywas because it has 90k miles on it.....Should i get the GM opti or that new MSD one?

 

I havent heard enough about the MSD opti to advise for or against it. If someone else could chime in about that one it would be appreciated. I went with a GM one that I bought off a friend, its worked fine for the past 10k miles. You doing the install yourself?

 

Im not sure yet, im gonna look around and get some install prices.....im also gonna replace the coil i think.
