Plain and simple, I lost my low end too, but what good is low-end? Wehn are we going to be pulling tree trunks out of the ground? LTs move your power range up, the higher the RPMs go the easier it is to breathe compared to stock manifolds.

I personally find it more satisfying going through a left turn intersection sideways than just lighting them up from a stop.

chirping tires

ok-- here goes. your 3000 fuddle torque converter flashes at 2400?? hell what is the str.I have a midwest 2800 converter with a 2.5 str(same as vigilante) mine flashes at 3000.the more power you give it the higher it flashes.when you have sticky tires, a stall, you dont smoke the tires as much. mine dosent, it squats and goes! when I first put my stall in with street tires I could smoke them for a mile.

It is accepted that 1 3/4 primaries work better than 1 5/8 primaries on a 350 CI engine. LTs are better for low end than shorties. I don't know what you mean my "open headers".

Now if you were running anything bigger than 1 3/4 primaries on a steet/strip engine you might loose some scavenging ability, but few use that large a primary.

You don't need no stinkin' back pressure.

It's not your headers that are the problem.JMHO

Tires will make all the difference in the world! I have decent tires on mine, and I could break them loose a little(both with the M6 and A4), but it would hook pretty good. Now that I have a Yank SS 3600 I can't mash it from a stop, but from a slow 1st gear roll it hooks pretty good. Your headers are not the problem, and from the sound of it I don't think there is a problem at all, but rather mixed-up expectations.

I agree with the others who said it's the tires. New sticky tires really lower the fun factor a couple notches.

Maybe my expectations are a little high? But with the mods I have I should be able to smoke the tires from a dead stop with any street tire right? I dont know what king of power i'm losing due to altitude, but I bet its a significant amount.

What's the weather like right now? If it's humid and hot, then that also kills performance. I wouldn't be surprised if my car runs 1 second slower in the summer vs in the winter. I'm in Az and performance right now is a sick joke. Also, the tires get a bit gummier when they are hot. So imagine new sticky tires on scorching concrete and breathing hot humid nasty air. Your car has power, it's just too damn hot and you have new tires on scorching asphault to realize the power. Trust me.

Yea the fuzion zr1's are kind of sticky.I touched my reear tire after just normal highway driving yesterday and it was tacky to the touch. Maybe it is the sticky tires and hot humid weather?

You need to get a scan tool and hook it up to see whats going on. Headers don't cause false knock unless they are hitting something. The knock sensor hears internal noise and headers add 0 internal noise..may make it louder outside the engine, but the same noise was there in the pipes that is there before and after the headers were installed. Take a stephoscope and hold it up to the block while its running, you'll be amazed at what you can hear and how quite it is even with a huge 240+ duration and 600+ lift cam with open headers.

I believe the headers are hitting somewhere I just dont know where? I have shimmed them up with header wrap in the normal problem areas. Maybe I missed one?

I say check for knock retard. Sounds like the car is pulling timing.

wait i did not know that if the headers are hitting something it can cause a false knock. mine are hitting my passenger motor mount and a little on the notch on the k member. is it REALLY that bad?

and id say get a mail order tune, could help out alot.

Yep, anything banging around metal on metal may cause some false knock, if its hitting hard it may be causing significant knock retard. I've heard some headers hitting the stock K-member where the top and bottom parts are welded together on the k-member..the lip that sticks out..if thats where it is hitting, the lip part of the k-member may need to be ground off for clearence of the header tube. Engine vibration will eventually wear the header tube thin if not put a hole in it.
