Loss of power??
Loss of power??
Hey guys, I just got my car on the road a few weeks back and it was pretty much stock, exeption being cai, tb bypass. I recently installed Pacesetter LT's w/ the offroad y pipe and magnaflow cat back. After that my buddy and i installed richmond 3:73 gears, and a powertrax locker (fun fun) but, i have a header leak on my drivers side, i am currently using the copper gaskets right now and this ticking noise is pissing me off, am i losing power because of this? The only codes i am throwing is crank position sensor, bec ause i accedentally ripped the wire off the harness while ripping my A.I.R. out. Shoud i use the stock paper gaskets? How much power am i really losing? Are my headers f-ing warped? Thanks guys,

Re: Loss of power??
I was just wondering, because if im not losing that much power over the leak then i will not worry about it and fix it when the weather is nicer, but if it is taking power away from me i will fix it before i go to the track. Thanks.

Re: Loss of power??
You are probalby losing a little bit of power, not terribly much. The header leak creates a "false lean" condition. There is air that where the leak is at and the O2 sensor reads the oxygen in the extra air. Seeing it being "falsely lean" it will add extra fuel in order to richen up the mixture to get it at the stoichiometric 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio. The car is probably just running a little fat depending upon how bad the leak is.
