Loosing Hope & Money... HELP!!!!
Whats up everybody on CAMAROZ28? I Had plans on asking you guys before all of this stuff started happening to my car, but i decided to listen too this bum mechanic and ended up loosing some money w/o solving any real problems...
Ok heres a quick summary of whats going on w/ my car.... and how long its been going on...
2 Months ago-- On my way back home from this chicks house which was approximately 60 MILES away and ive never had problems w/ my car heating up.. never really had any problems at all. But considering the mileage on the car (124K Miles)..... I Figure its about time for somethin to happen..... but anyways, on my way back home , car heated up too the red point and it cut off... since then.. my mechanic did something to the radiator that caused it too run cool again.. (it was a plastic bag covering the radiator)
1 Month 1/2 later... On my way back home from a chicks house.. and my car starts to kinda BOG out (dont kno if im using the right terminology) and it basically started looping and cut off.. But before it cut off i noticed the tempature hand moving up a lil bit.. (when i notice that, it always dies....)
Mechanic's Garuntee (Everything should be working... riiightt)
Got my O2's changed, Major Tune-UP, Gas Filter, and Moroso Air Intake Cleaned, Fuel Injectors Cleaned... The car was rolling GREAT ....
THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN
When it started to heat up a lil bit from me pulling off.... ALL of a [edit] sudden, the car starts MISSING BIG TIME, and then what do you know...
THE CAR SHUTS OFF......
WHEN THE CAR IS COLD... IT RUNS GREAT! but when it heats up a lil bit,,, its a DISASTER... NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON EITHER?? HELLLLLPPP!!!
OH YEA AND WILL A VENTED OPTI SPARK WORK FOR MY CAR YEAR? SOMEBODY TOLD ME IT WOULD WORK, BUT I SUSPECTED IT WOULDNT... JUST A FEW QUESTIONS.. WHAT DO U GUYS THINK CAN BE GOING ON W/ THE CAR? ITS A GOOD CAR OVERALL JUST THIS 1 PROBLEM.. THANKS

Try to post without testing the language filter.
Its something that has a problem with heat. One suspect would be the IC Module. Shoebox has a writeup on spacing the module off the head to keep it cooler. The electronics in the Opti optical sensor could also have a problem with heat.
Or, can you correlate the transition from "running great" cold to "a disaster" hot with the transition from open loop to closed loop?
To use the vented Opti, you need a few parts:
