Loose Torque Convertor?

I'm rebuilding my LT1 and pulled the engine with the tranny attached. 1st time rebuilder and noticed that when I removed the engine from the tranny, the TC was loose. As in, it had approx 1in of play and I could wiggle it, in addition to turning it.

Is this normal? Or do I need to replace some bushing, overhaul, etc the tranny?!?!

Thanks!

Your torque converter should turn freely in both the cw and ccw direction. With the trans. mounted to the engine there should be about an inch of for and aft play between the flex plate and and the trans. pump. With the trans. off the engine the torque converter should be able to move up and down (wiggle) a little bit.

Sounds normal to me!!
