Loose steering

I have a 95 camaro with 130k. When I'm driving down the road it has a loose spot in the steering. When you move a little left or right nothing happens. What do you think this is?

First, check your tie rods to make sure that they are not worn out. VERY IMPORTANT.

Second, if those are fine then more than likely the rag joint in your steering linkage (the linkage is visible right beside the driver-side manifold/header) is worn out. GM's way of fixing a worn rag joint is to replace the entire steering linkage - which is roughly $100. Some opt to hit up a salvage yard to find a replacement and other simply buy an after-market part called the "rag joint eliminator" and simply repair their existing linkage. Do a search on "rag joint" in this forum and you'll find the web links.
