loose rocker arms

loose rocker arms

i took off the valve covers today to check everything out and i noticed some of my rockers are loose and some are not. what do I torque them to ? They are stock.

i know, i looked... i dont see it. It says rocker arm (stud) 50 ft-lbs and rocker arm cover bolts 106 in-lbs. WOULD A SIMPLE ANSWER HURT ANYONE. I tryied to find it, im not a good searcher.

The simple answer is there is no tq spec. You are adjusting preload. Go to zero lash, adj preload, lock down.

As stated above, they're not torqued down. Depending on the position of your cam, some rockers will be tighter than others when you pull the valve covers. Shoebox has a good description of the process here:

I don't remember on stockers, but I know if I take my covers off with the car cold some of them have slack (ones with the valve closed) Start it and see if any are real noisy. May just be normal.
