Just run it through a few heat cycles with the new headers on and the o2 sensors out.

I run Mac mid lengths on my 93 LT1. One thing you may want to consider is spark plug access. Mac mid lengths have really good spark plug access. I can change my plugs in 30 minutes easy. I love my Macs easy install and make good power. I attached a video of my Lt1 with Macs installed, I am not running emissions as where I am its not a problem.

I made 309 rwhp with just Mac headers, 3" ORP, 160 stat and PCMforless tune. So dont listen to eveyone that says mid lengths dont make power.

No, it won't throw off the O2 sensors.

Generally when a company paints a header before shipping it out it is done to keep the metal from rusting and it isn't meant to be permanent. It's a quick single coat on the outside only which will burn off when you get the engine up to temperature. It creates a lot of smoke, usually smells bad and leaves a nasty residue on the headers which tends to bake in place and not come off.

If you're serious about having the headers coated take them to a professional and let them remove the paint and coat them before you install them. Or if you just want to paint them with several coats of high temperature paint you will need to remove the crappy paint (sand/media blasting is the most efficient way IMO), prep them and paint them.

thanks for the heads up. I think I have decided on the second set of hooker shorty's.

I will sand blast and paint them.
