Looking at LT4 HOT cam kit and Hooker Shorties, have some ????s
1.) I'm pretty sure that longtubes are not going to be in my best interest. How much power difference is there between hooker shorties and longtubes? I don't plan on racing the car, just having a little more fun with it in my daily driving. How does the sound from LTs compare to the sound from shorties compare?
2.) As far as the LT4 HOT cam kit goes, I think this looks like my best option. I have stock heads and no converter. I realize this isn't the biggest cam out there, but I can't afford to go out and buy ported heads and gears right now. Does the HC sound much better than stock? I would probably be running it through the SLP Loudmouth. Does anyone have sound clips of this combo or something close?
Any help is appreciated, I'm going to make this my spring break project.

I have the LT4 Hot Cam kit, Hooker shorties, RK cat, & Borla catback (no plate) along w/ numerous suspension bolt-ons, A4 w/ Vig 2800 & 3.73 gears. For the $$$ I think you will find this cam and header set-up will give you the most return on investment. At a light, people know you have a cam but it's nothing obnoxious. My car sounds awesome outside but not overwhelming inside. The Hooker shorties will keep you emission legal but not give the HP increase compared to LT's. Mine is a daily driver (currently w/ >205K miles), fun, and competitive to race. Good Luck!!!

I like the HC kit. The car sounds great with my current setup. Yes you can tell there is a cam when idling. As for power difference who can say. Yes long tubes would give you some more hp, I went shorties because my car was lowered. It's a great street car that is smog legal and runs great.
The track times in the sig are not current with the power I'm making now. Had the car dyno tuned. 310hp/360tq before the tuning. High 12's on street tires are what it should run now.

The cam sounds killer. Its got that mustle car lope to it. As for the shorties, the winner of the GM High Tech Perf LT1 shoot out had shorties. Mid 12s. They are easier to install and wont drag dead animals home to the driveway. Get the hot cam kit.

The M6 car has a hotcam + mac shorties and an 80-series flowmaster on it.
Let's just say that hot day + windows rolled down + T-Tops in the trunk =
Bad part is you get less action from the 4.6 crowd
The hotcam is definitely a great cam, not peaky, has lots of torque, but also pulls right up to my 6300RPM redline. I also get 20MPG everyday, and around 26 on the highway (and I've got 4.10's)

To further back up what these guys are reporting, a friend of mine has a 93 with Hooker shorties and the HOT cam. He ripped the T56 out of it before doing any serious testing, but with a TH350 in its place he went 12.45 last fall.
