looking to avoid previous problem when I start my car-see if you can help
alrighty, looking to start my car for the 1st time in 3.5 months in
the coming weeks. heres some back story
i replaced my opti back in december. after the install, car would start up, and run great. i would rev it up,and it revved up quicker and smoother than ever. up until the car got warm(about 2 minutes), the idle would drop from aroun 1100 rpms down to 500 and lower, stumble and rumble, then just shut off. if i went to start it, it would start, then idle low right away, unless i let it sit and get cool.
what exaclty would have caused this? what can I do to prevent it before i go to restart the car again. Its gonna be started up with new MSD coil, new plugs, and wires

Did the car do this before you installed the Opti?
If not, I would test the opti by heating it up. If it did do that before the opti install, start with something other than the opti.
Start by starting the car for only 10 seconds or so just to prove it runs. Then heat the opti(or other ign comp) with a blow dryer. Make it just warm enough to be too hot to touch. Then try starting the engine. Only run it for about 10 seconds so that if that wasn't the problem, you don't heat up everything and you can test some other components. Go to the next ignition component. When you get to something that when heated causes the problem, cool it down try it for 10 seconds and then heat it up again and try it. Freeze spray from an electrical shop works great for cooling. This way you're sure you found the culprit.
If you've done the heat tests on the ignition components and it doesn't prove anything, then check the fuel pressure before and after the problem shows up.
If that doesn't help, see if the problem only shows up after the engine goes into closed loop. If so, start by looking at the O2 readings. Then go on to the other sensors.
Wish I could give you a better idea what to look for.

thanks. that seems like some great info to try out.
also, i forget to mention, car will have new O2's as well.
some people have told me that the timing could be off, but how would it be if the opti can only go on one way? and also that it could be air pockets in the coolant causing the problem. others say bad gas from sitting for the week.
any other imput?

If that was your problem I wouldn't think she would fire right up like that.
