Long Block vs. Short

Long Block vs. Short

I see long block and I see short block.

Whats the difference??

I know this has got to be an elementary question, but I couldn't find anything using "search".

Long block means that the heads are on the motor, short block means that the heads are not.

long block means heads, oil pan, and block and bottem end. short block means block and bottem end.
