a little too much oil

well, i was putting some oil in the car, and i accidentally put in the entire quart, instead of maybe 1/2 to 2/3's of it.

i checked the dipstick, and it's showing about 1/8th of an inch past the LAST little hole.

i cant afford any leaks, so any suggestions? will that much of an overfill cause any damage?

thanks.

I don't think it's leaks you have to worry about. The problem with overfilling is the oil becomeing aireated (sp) when the crank whips it into a frappe. Doesn't sound like your overfilled it that much, but you could just drain a lil to be on the safe side.

that all depends. if it is a pubic hair over no. If it's more towards 1/4 inch no. if it's half inch yes what it does is put strain on the crank and then the crank will start to beat or froth the extra oil and aerate it causing you pump to pick up air instead of ol which ruins the pump and then you get tiny bubbles running thru the bearings, not very pretty.

if you're only 1/8" of an inch over filled don't sweat it that isn't going to hurt a thing.
