Angry Link bolt - Stab bar to low control arm

I have been missing the link bolt, nut, bushings, and sleeve that connects the stabilizer bar from the lower control arm on the RH side of the car.

I put a new one on about a year ago, and now it is missing again. Saturday I bought another one.

Am I not torquing this on enough? (16 ft-lbs?) Should I use Locktite (blue?)? Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions so that I only have to do this one more time?

Thanks!

Couldn't hurt to put some Loctite on it or maybe use aircraft nuts. I have never heard of anyone losing them before.

Me neither. This is simple, but something is wrong since I keep losing them.

Do you need to re-tighten after lowering the car? I assume they don't shear and break. I'll just torque the crap out of it.

Thanks!

How about using some locknuts with loctite? Also using a nut a tad bit bigger will cause it to fall off....seen it done before.

Thanks. Well, I have the one I just got at the dealership in front of me, and the nut is part of the bushing. Must be the right size, but it is not a locking nut. So I am thinking some Locktite.

I'm concerned because when you put this on it changes the front end alignment. I want to put this on, have it re-aligned, and forget about it!

I don't believe it should change the alignment. The sway bar should be neutral with the car sitting level.

Are you putting them on with the nut on top?

Factory ones.... Personally If you're replacing them anyways.. might as well upgrade to ES ones. I think mine were like $8 a piece from Summit. And they come with NyLock nuts... I've never had a problem with them, and I put them on within 2 months of owning the car.. (~3 years)

I thought that, then after a replaced it the first time, the outer part of the tire is now worn on that side. Now that the link is off, the wearing has stopped. So it must of gave it some positive camber on that side.

I put it on the same way as the other side (which hasn't come off in 9 years BTW) with the nut on top. Should I?

I now see the ES one in the Summit catalog ($13.99?).

Thanks all...

Well, yeah it would have an effect if you drove it with the link off. What I was saying was that when sitting on an alignment machine, it would make no difference whether it was on or off. The car is not moving when it is on the alignment machine. So the effect on alignment specs is nothing.
