Line-lock, burn out question...
Line-lock, burn out question...
My friend dropped a lil' piece of "advice" on me that I found rather curious.
OK, say I have a line-lock on my M6 (I don't, but say I do) and I'm heating up my ET streets. Is it harmful to shift to second? Not that its NECESSARY, but say for fun I wanted to waste a set of street tires and get a rise from the crowd. If I shift during my burn out, is it harmful to the tranny, rear, etc.?

i dont see why it would hurt. ive shifted all the way into third and smoke a set off. the line lock should help you and make it easier becuase you dont have to over power the back brakes. my opinion is that it would make it easier on the car, not that smoking your tires is good for it anyway.
Thanks for the input.
While I don't PLAN on doing anything like that, I was just curious. Of course, this is the same guy that told me riding 6th gear at 1800RPMs was bad for it...the same guy that shifts at 1500RPMs riding around town!
