Lighter valves
Lighter valves
Are the stock 1997 Lt1 valves with a cc306 ok for 6800 rpm? while i'm in there installing the cc306 matched valve springs,1.6 rr's ,electric w/p, 4.10's,3200 stall, bbk shorties, home porting and 0.020 head milling, are there any other small improvements i may be overlooking?
Re: Lighter valves
They will be just fine at 6800rpm.
Would it hurt if they were lighter? Not at all. Lighter valves are easier for valve springs to control. Anything you can do to lighten the system on the valve side will help in that regard.... lighter valves, less rocker arm mass, lighter retainers, etc... all good.

Re: Lighter valves
I've seen people using the ferrea valves 2.0 and 1.56 , will these work with the stock seat if ground down to fit? are they undercut at the head

Re: Lighter valves
That's the largest valve combination that will work on the stock seats.
If you're looking at the 5000 or 6000 series (not familiar with their whole product line) then yes, they have undercut stems.
