Lifters Question

Hey guys,

My car spun two bearings and had metal shavings all over the engine. I want to replace the lifters to make sure I don't have to worry about them. If I go with LS7 lifters or Comp Cams lifters do I have to worry about pushrod length or would I still be safe to stick with the stock pushrod size? I remember reading a post awhile ago that in most cases a heads/cam/intake car isn't going to need different length pushrods than stock but I wanted to check and make sure.

CC503, 1.6 Pro Mag roller rockers, 918 beehives.

Just buy a pushrod length checker along with those LS7 lifters. I did all kinds of crazy stuff to my block, heads and still came up with 7.200".

Best to be safe.

You can save all money by disassembling your lifters and cleaning them.

yes you can. Just watch out for those pesky spring clips that go flying.

Do you think it'd be more beneficial to stick with the stock lifters and clean them than buying new? I was told the engine had 60k on the clock when I bought it but I have no way of knowing for sure how many miles was on this engine.

I have friends that run stock eliminator LT1's that use used lifters all the time. I wouldn't be afraid to use them if they are in good shape. It will benefit you in that you will save whatever the price is that a new set will cost you. On the other hand, if you decide to use new ones, can I have your old ones??? I'll pay shipping, of course
