lifters for cam install

for the gm847 i know im going to need new lifters but are the comp oe lifters work or should i opt for the comp r's? part # for the oe is 63-850-16

I have Stage II heads and the 847 on stock lifters.

how many miles? do u plan to stay that way or change them out sometime?

120K on my lifters.


I am doing another motor right now actually, for no reason other than I want more power, and that will have different lifters.

For the spring rates and pressure that the springs you need for the 847 have, you stand a good chance of collapsing a stock lifter. Heck, I had a weak Comp R lifter that collapsed on me the first time I started this engine and I had to buy a new set.

are there any other lifters that will work that are reasonably priced? seems like alot of people have probs adjusting the comp r's (lash maybe cant remem)

I got my comp r's a 2 weeks ago from speed inc, I'm not sure if they still have them on sale though. I would go with the comp r's with that much lift. The extra $10 or $15 for the comp r's is cheap insurance.

It's just that some people don't know that the preload is very light on the Comp R's. Other than that, there is no difference in adjustment.
