Lifter Question

I allready purchased my lt4hot cam, and I dont want to run the stock lifters when I do the swap. Mainly because I had a stock lifter fail not to long ago. At the time I just replaced the one lifter with one that NAPA sells. It seems to have done the job.

But my question is, which should I go with for the cam swap. Im not to crazy about going with the crane lifters, because I have heard 3 bad stories about them failing. And I also heard that they do the GM OEM lifters as well. So should I go with the comp cams lifters? Or will going with the NAPA lifters work just as good?

Also, can I keep the stock pushrods? Or will those need to be replaced?

I'm running the Cranes with my combo and have had no problems. If getting them from Comp sits a little better with you, go ahead. I'm not sure about the NAPA one, never seen 'em.

A little side not to add to the confusion - there are only a couple of places left that actually manufacture lifters now. Do some research (there's even some info about it on this site) and you'll get to the bottom of it. Strange but true.

Push rods - new hardened ones are only about $30 or so. Why not toss in some fresh ones?

I'm with jkipp84 on this. I'm running Crane Cam lifters and Comp Cam hardened pushrods with the hotcam. No problems whatsoever.

I didnt mean that they were bad. I just have seen about 3 people who had them fail (collapsed lifter).

I used COMP "stock replacement" lifters with my new cam.
