Lifter Dead... Pushrod bent.. Rocker arm shattered..
I think the source of this was too much RPM (7k) for too long (a bunch of donuts)..
I have 15 comp R lifters.. I don't have the money for morels right now.. should I buy a 16th or just buy another stocker?
As for the time being, I took the spark plug wire and fuel injector harness off that cyl (Cyl 3) and just put a new rocker arm in there. Autozone was closed, so I couldn't get a new pushrod.. but I don't think it matters much, because the lifter isn't working anyway (the pushrod isn't moving).
I can tell that the lifter was collapsed because the pushrod was sitting just level with the guideplate when I took the shattered rocker off. When I put the pushrod back in, it sat maybe 2cm higher, but when I pushed down a little, it went back to being level with the guideplate and didn't come back up.
Anyway, if anyone has a single comp R lifter they want to sell, PM me..
And, if anyone has any opinions, lemme know.

Re: Lifter Dead... Pushrod bent.. Rocker arm shattered..
So you suggest I also change my oil?
No metal from the rocker.. we found all the pieces.. I'm not sure about the lifter.. I don't know what happens when they collapse..

Re: Lifter Dead... Pushrod bent.. Rocker arm shattered..
I had already driven the 250 miles home [after noticing the power loss and valvetrain noise] by the time that I posted this
I thought it was just a rocker at the time, so I figured the worst that would happen would be a bent pushrod.. I guess I was wrong..
It was too late at night to stop anywhere though, and too cold to check it out on the side of the road (esp since I couldn't do anything with no parts)
Anyway, hopefully there won't be any pieces of the lifter in the oil...

I may have missed this in the previous posts. If so sorry but. If you broke a rocker, bent a push rod and ruined a lifter it would seem to me the common denominator to all those is a sticky valve. You may want to investigate the valve and the guide before you go throwing more parts at it.

Re: Lifter Dead... Pushrod bent.. Rocker arm shattered..
what does turn the lifter mean?
Do you mean break the lobe off the cam/grind down the lobe on the cam?
Should I consider doing a new cam at the same time as the lifters?

As already stated when something like that happens it is usually caused by mechanical contact... either sticky valve or even smacking a valve into a piston. Either way the heads should come off to see if there is any more damage. If you don't do it now you may run into a heap of problems shortly after getting back together again.
BTW... stop w/ the 7Krpm stuff. It ain't benefiting you at all unless you are running cam/heads to accommodate.
