Lexan?
Lexan scratches really easily.
And if you're ever involved in a crash you better hope you're wearing your seatbelt. Only upside is the weight savings.
I wouldn't do it. Only if the car was a trailer queen.

JEG's has been carrying the Percy's "speedglass" Lexan stuff for at least a year. Complete set for a 4th Gen F-Body is $1,090. Saves approx. 64 pounds over stock glass. Described as "pre-molded 1/8" thick, 1" oversized to allow trimming for custom fit."
Hatch window only is $380.

Hold up my car isn't a trailer queen! I drive it on the street and have lexan in my rear hatch.
If your going to use lexan go with a manufacture like Pro Glass. They offer a lexan that resist fogging and in some degree scratch resistant. I believe they call it mar gaurd. This was what my chassis guy got for me then it was ordered smoked to give the tint look. You wouldn't believe the weight it saved! I'm considering doing the front windshield but don't want it to look to much like a race car. LOL!!!

aah yes, lexan
they used it in the later third gen t-tops, how would i know?
yes, i think it is quite lighter than glass (comparing my dad's 95 t's to mine, and his aren't as big- 4th gens rounded them and 3rd gens are like straight squares)
now, it does tend to scratch easily, a little bit of polish though and it's fine
i don't know though that it'd be worth the weight savings though (since you gotta spend 1000 bucks to get it, and it might be harder to see out of if scratched a lot)
to each his own

It's like 489 for the full kit or something....
How good is Lexan in an accident?
Anyone that's ever been hit buy 500 pieces of tiny glass knows what I mean.

well, when my t-top shattered (was getting up to 60, and whooosh! right out it went) it didn't break up too too much, not like glass atleast
pretty sure it was only about 5 pieces then some tiny shards, way better than glass in an accident imo
but, i don't know how it landed either since i was going 60 and it flew off- too far to see

The glass breaks in tiny pieces for a reason just imagine a big piece of lexan cutting your head off
If you are thinking of getting lexan glass make sure you have every bolt'on first. The weight savings from lexan is not going to give you a noticeable gain unless you replace all the glass. then you might see .05 of a gain in the 1/4.
Plus I would hate to loose my rear defrost

I got you on that one...Just wondering if the Laxan is less harmful to you when that happens.
