Sweet! So glad I saw this thread, I was just gettin ready to go buy those scorpions too. I have a couple of buddys with ls1's gettin ready to upgrade so free 1.7's Yea! So what about stock LS1 springs, will they work? Cause i know you can run the comp cams 918's on both motors so will this work?

more pics to come this weekend that I think will make folks have a much better feeling about this mod. I'm picking up another adj pushrod this afternoon since I was given the wrong one the other day. Even having to purchase longer pushrods will still make this a viable budget mod compared to aftermarket. To each his own, not everyone has the $$$ to go out and buy the Scorpions.

I don't know the specs on the stock LS1 springs. You need to look at those specs and compare that to what your lift numbers will be with a 1.7 ratio. That really doesn't have much to do with this mod as you need to look at the springs anytime you change the lift on your cam. No matter how that lift is created.

I am a firm believer in, do it nice or do it twice.
I hate doing things twice.

This is the reason I went this route. The cam I have now is the second one I've had on these bearings and I was a little worried about wiping them out. I won't be going back into this motor again until I do a rebuild so this is what I wanted to do for a little extra on the combo I have now. I had everything I needed to do this and got the rockers for free. I'm only out the cost of the bits and a can of cutting lube. $35 total to go from .556 to .589
I didn't know what kind of milage you have on your motor. good luck with the swap.

I'm still wondering about the geometry of 1.7 rocker arms intended for use on LS1 heads and using them on 23 degree heads set up for 1.5 rocker arms.

From post #65. "IMO that does not look good."

I admit the car ran fine with them on and there was a SOTP difference. In the end, I just didn't have a good enough feeling about it to spin it very high much less turn the nitrous on. A shorter pushrod would help but the shorter you go, the closer the base of the rocker gets to the head and it didn't look good to me.

I am the thread starter, and I will chime in with an update here:

I traded the car away a couple of weeks ago for a LS1 Z28 camaro (heads and cam project in the works )

Right before I traded the car, one of the valve spring retainers broke. (There was a ticking noise)

I had the CC305 cam and the 1.7 LS1 rockers on the car with the LT4 valve springs. With this combo I was about over .560 lift. Thoes springs are only good till .525 lift. I ran this set up hard since 2005 (street and track...had thoes rockers / heads / springs since 2004)

Just and update for y'all

Then you weren't getting a 1.7 ratio. At .560 lift those springs would have gone *solid* and broke a whole bunch of stuff.
