Leaky Fuel Injector--Now What?
Leaky Fuel Injector--Now What?
I'm pretty confident that I have tracked down my car problem to a leaky fuel injector. My car only has 45,000 miles on it.
QUESTIONS:
1. Should I change out all of the fuel injectors now--since one has already gone bad, or can I get away with replacing only the one leaky fuel injector?
2. Is it important to match fuel injectors? If I replace only the one, does it need to be a stock match, or can I put any injector in? Stock fuel injectors cost ~$130 a piece at the dealer.
3. If I go the route of replacing all of the injectors, what kind do I get? I would like to get quality injectors, and I don't plan on doing any crazy things to the motor in the future.
Thanks for your help,
Mark

Well you could go with some 24# Ford SVOs. They are about $220 for a new set (www.summitracing.com) and they are GOOD injectors.
Are you sure the injector is leaking though? Maybe you just need to replace the o-rings....
Also, if you're going to replace the one, just replace all of them to avoid differences in flow rate.

I'm pretty confident that the #1 fuel injector is bad--I pulled it out and I can blow air through it--the valve doesn't seat. It was dumping fuel into the cylinder, resulting in an awful misfire and obnoxious raw fuel odors.
O-rings look fine.
Any other opinions?
