LE3 cam need a bronze gear?

Yeah, better check. When I installed my LE1 cam, I asked Lloyd about this. He had me e-mail him the Comp Cam part no. off the cam and from that, he told me to go with the stock drive gear.

The only ones that "require" a bronze gear are the billet cams. We usually send out cast cams unless the customer ASKS FOR a billet cam like on a solid roller or BIG hyd roller with PSI springs.
The only exception is about a year or so ago when Comp was out of cast cams cores for LT1 engines and we were forced to use the billet cams to get customers cams in time.
If it is used, check with the original purchaser or check with me or Bret with the part #'s on the cam. This will tell if it is a billet or cast cam.

Well you would have the intake off when you changed the cam, and the oil-pump drive would be out as well. There is a dowel pin on the oil-pump drive that holds the gear that mates up with the cam in place, just carefully drive the pin out and pull the old gear off and replace it with the appropriate gear.

Hm, I just didnt think there would be enough room to pull the oil pump drive shaft up and out, but then again, I have never seen one either.
