I finally got her running! I still need to break in the cam, change the oil, and retorque the header and intake bolts, but it runs. It sounds like a sewing machine under the hood (which I expected) but I'm gonna pull the valve covers next week and make sure they are all still tight.

Im confused, I was under the impression HR cams did not need broke in? Thanks for the sound of the "sewing machine" iv been wanting to hear that.

 

Cam does not have to be run in with a hydraulic roller valve train.

 

I know that, but I plan on taking it easy until all the lobes and journals "mate" to the lifters and bearings. It's probably not needed, but I figure since I spent all the money and time doing it I shouldn't try to break it in the first week.

I really can't . I plan on getting it dynoed in a couple weeks too.

 

I've noticed you live in CA. Do you actually have the LE2 cam, or the LE emissions cam that is in your sig? I was under the impression that an LE2 cam wouldn't pass smog in CA. That is if you are actually planning on passing smog... I'm researching a little on CA smog-able setups, looking forward to seeing what you dyno!

 

It's a smog legal cam. Slightly smaller than a CC503, and Lloyd assured me it would pass smog. I don't plan on staying in CA much longer, but I will still have to pass smog again soon, so my hopes are up.

 

sounds pretty good for an emissions cam.

make sure the rockers are about 1/8 of a turn past zero lash. Any tighter and it can effect top end power.

Lloyd, I went 1/2 turn for my preload, do you think I should go back and set my lash to 1/8? These are stock used lifters BTW. Thanks.

 

Mine sounds like a sewing machine too.. 1.6 pro mag roller rockers... It throws false knocks too unfortunately... The LE2 heads and Cam runs awesome... Drag radials are struggling to keep up with them

Trying to get it tuned out right and then onto the dyno she goes... very happy with the LE2 setup... Glad yours is running good too..

 

not sure if that will help the noise any but it will amke it run better if you re adjust thema nd set them at 1/8 past zero lash.

Maybe you will find some out of adjustment when you go back through them.
