LE2 experts...RPM question?
Hey guys,
I am running the LE2 head and cam package with a Vortech supercharger. Lloyd said that he cut my cam special to be a blower cam. While on the dyno, my mass airflow sensor maxed out at 5,000 RPM, so I will need to get that mass air signal messager to complete the tuning. But, at 5K RPM and 6 lbs. of boost at the manifold, I was only seeing 320 RWHP. This seems extremely low to me even though the engine was only at 5K RPM. I was just wondering what you guys thought about this, or will the cam make considerably more power in the 5,000-6,500 RPM range, or is my mass air holding back my numbers even now. I have all the other bolt ons needed to compement the LE2 pkg. The guy who did my dyno said my tranny could also be going and lots of power could be being wasted "turning" the tranny, not really sure what this is?? Anyways, I was expecting around 450 RWHP, is this possible given I am only seeing 320 RWHP at 5,000 RPM before faullty mass air readings?? please post any comments or thoughts........

Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
You're right, you should be seeing somewhere in excess of 450 hp at the wheels with that setup.
Get all the bugs worked out of it first, and then strap it back on the dyno. Just dont get discouraged.

Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
Yes, My PCM was in the process of being dyno-tuned, but we then ran into the mass-air sensor road block. I dropped my compression ratio to around 9.5:1, by installing forged, dished pistons. Any other comments people?...
Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
Make sure the valves are adjusted properly. Are you using a 3bar map? Is there any dedination? How much timing are you running? How many lbs of boost are you expecting on that setup?

Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
I am running a stock fuel pump, but have the Vortech t-rex in-line fuel pump. I am also running 48 lb. injectors. So I definitely dont think its a fuel issue. Can anyone running a LE2 cam tell me what RPM range they are seeing their peak power in?
Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
Well, my old Hotcam peaked at 6400rpm (in a 'Vette). With the current LE2 heads/cam I've set my A4 to shift at about 6800rpm. Once on the dyno (hopefully next week) I expect at least a 6400rpm power peak. This combo seems to pull hard all the way to 6800rpm.
Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
i'd say your tranny is probably toast if you were moving enough air to max out the maf you gotta be making some serious hp. 320rwhp doesnt jive with a maxed out mass air sensor by any stretch of the imagination. pull the trans dipstick and see if it smells/looks like warmed over refried ****.
Re: LE2 experts...RPM question?
ya I was thinking that was extremely low also to max out the maf sensor. We will just have to wait and see. Can anyone running a similar cam look at their dyno sheet and tell me what their power differences were between say 4,800 and 6,500 RPM. The maf cut the fuel at about 4,800 RPM so I feel that it might have a LOT more power left in the higher rev's. The bottom end is forged with racing bearings, so I am not afraid to rev it a little high if i need to. Also, I did not degree the cam, but even with the degree a little off, I wouldnt think that you would loose a whole lot of performance, any opinions on this??
