Nice numbers congrats what kind of injectors are you running. I see on your sig nitrous are you going to spray some nitrous on top of that. Hurry out to the track and get us some 1/4 et's. I'm interested to know what kind of et's you can get keep us posted.

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

I have 30 lb. injectors, along with a 255 walbro pump
I tried to spray some nitrous, 150 shot
Needless to say the stock rods, proven fact, will not hold 600 RWTQ.
The nitrous kicked on about 3800 and it layed down 600 RWTQ and let go.....
Time to forge it, I knew the bottom end was on borrowed time with the nitrous.....

Nice #'s for stock valve heads, I just wish I would've got my 383 le2 setup finish and on the dyno. It did to 11.78 at 115.6 with a lot of problems though, so I was shooting for 425+rwhp and 380+rwtq. I'm also hoping my old stock bottem end setup with the baby cam(220/226) can hit the 400+rwhp mark once it gets tuned now thats its in a 6 speed car. Seeing you do it on stock valves makes me think it can do it.

It can be done....Tuning can be a major part in it, Also all the supoorting mods play a major part, such as Long Tubes and 58 mm Throttle Body and so forth....

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

What about Mac mid length headers. How much of a difference would it make between long tubes and Mac mids as far a horsepower on a setup like this one?

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

My opinion on this would be that Mac's wouldnt cost you as much HP on a setup like this as Shorties would. But It would still cost you some HP.
I would guess maybe 5 RWHP or more...
Not alot, But it is a difference, That is one of the reasons this car hit 400 RWHP, ALL of the supporting mods to make it!

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

The differnce in shorty, mid or long tubes would have a lil to do with TQ #'s and RPM. The crummy part about MOST shortys is that they are 1 5/8 diameter and use a small bell type collector with a real small ID so these 2 things hurt the HP #'s more than the length of the tube.

If we are comparing some 1 3/4 Mid length to some 1 3/4 Long Tubes, they would probably make about the same HP assuming they both have the same 3" collector. The LT will probably make more low end TQ though with everything else being equal. Most street cars are happier with the ground clearance of the Mid length headers too.

This is what I ahve found but someone more educate don the subject could probably answer better and/or explain the reasoning behind that a lil better.

Cool. I was just trying to decide on wheather or not I should get the long tubes now or later. I think I'll wait. I'll probly start my 383 project late spring. And I'll just see how the Mac mids work for now.

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

By no means would I change out the Mac's for some long tubes if you already have the Mac's.
They will do great on a setup, The debate is when buying them from stock, which to go with and the Adv. and Dis. Adv.
