Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

We don't give the cam specs away for a couple of reasons, my big reason is that it's the combination of the valvetrain with the cam. If the springs etc.... aren't matched to the cam properly your not going to see good numbers and then "my" cam design would be considered junk because it didn't work. It's a system. That's the good thing about working with Lloyd is that he can give you a cylinder head that is setup for the camshafts we have speced out for them and they work very well together.

Indeed, The car feels extremely awesome.
Lays down solid numbers and isn't peaky meaning that it doesnt just top out at 6500 and thats it.

It has a VERY solid torque curve and good mid-low end power.

Very well matched setup.......

Thanks Lloyd and Bret

I would care if I was building the motor, for piston to valve clearance would be my concern, unless you know that the cam wont hit my pistons, that would be a big concern for me.

Its not really crazy anymore. Its starting to become common with good heads and cam.

It was designed not to even with bigger valves in the heads. You get the specs WHEN you get the package, can't degree in a cam if you don't get the specs. Only time I don't give out cam specs is on a race motor, and I probably would most times, but once the thing is in the motor and it all works together doesn't really matter what the specs are.

Z95m6, I agree it's becoming more common. I'm just impressed that this was done with stock valves and a econoport or basic port job. BTW nice old school Z/28 logos on your car.

I had the specs of the cam once I purchased the cam.
And since I ordered the package, I knew I wouldn't have a problem with Piston To Valve clearence.
But I agree that I would want to know the specs of the cam, And I do have a full cam card for the cam......

I agree, its not crazy with fully ported intakes and LT4 heads or LT1 heads with bigger valves.

But a stock bottom end with stock valves and no poting on the intake.....

Thanks Bret. Now i just need to lower the car, i got a set of springs in the garage but just haven't installed them yet. It wasn't too long ago 400 rwhp was almost unheard of a few years ago. I remember when Dr. Mudge put down 414rwhp with shorties and Ai H/C setup. It was a big deal around here. Now if you have good heads, larger cam (230+ duration) and aren't putting down 400 you kind of feel robbed. I'm glad we have guys like you, further pushing the streetable LT1 hp levels up.

I think there is more left in these motors too.... Once we get the crippling intake fixed we should start getting closer to LS1 numbers with GM heads castings and intake manifolds.

Z95M6
I have a set of ZO6 Wheels for my car too, they were the ZO6 wheel color but now they are going to be flat black! I also like the 428CJ you have!

Thanks again for the compliments. I bet those wheels will look killer on there. I'd like to see some pics of it when its done.

Do you really think the LT1 intake is that bad? I've always heard the stock is pretty good and thats why there is no aftermarket offered. Do you feel a ported intake helps much? I've always heard they are a waste of time.

Thanks Strocker. What hydraulic roller lifters do you recommend? COMP r's or Cranes? Or GM factory stuff.

Re: LE2 Dyno Day - 400 RWHP

Z95m6,

Right now I gotta get the fender fixed because I love to drive my SS in the nice weather up here... But while that all happens I'm going to do the wheels up as well. I spray bombed one right after I did my C5 brake upgrade with red powder coated calipers and it was very tough looking, made me want to paint the whole car flat black!

vette40th,

Depending on the springs that you get with the heads either the stock GM lifters or Comp R's. One of the good things that the beehives give you is the ability to use the stock lifter with them. They cost more but save you money in the long run.

Yes, another advantage of the beehive's. Stock lifters.....
I have some new stock ones in my car that are holding up great!
