If the heads are going to be milled though, teh intake would have to be milled as well, right?

Only milling the heads will drop them lower by that amount in relation to the intake and the intake will sit higher, right?

The problem here is when you mill the heads, the ports and the bolt holes for the intake manifold move down and closer to the center of the block. Milling the intake will realign the ports vertically, but I don't see how just milling the intake will compensate for the intake bolt holes on the heads moving closer together. Milling the intake manifold won't move the bolt holes on the intake manifold closer together. It seems you will have to drill the holes on the intake bigger even if you mill the intake.

Upon some more reading, I think I may have over-filled the Canton pan. We put nearly 7 quarts in it, and from what I've been reading, the consensus for its capacity seems to be 6 quarts.

I've been messing w/the PCV system, and while doing so, the oil coming from the dipstick is much less. I'm wondering if I'm getting closer to the 6 quarts as more oil continues to splash up and out the tube.
It just so happens that I called Canton's tech line about that very same question today. I have the 15-242T pan and was never sure about the right fill level. The tech guy told me that this pan makes the system capacity 6 quarts total. Fill up the oil filter, and put the remaining 5+ quarts in the pan, and re-mark the dipstick.
