I installed an LE2 cam in my car a few weeks ago, I got a tune from Ion at mad z28. The car runs great and pulls really hard. I have noticable cam surge at lower rpms though. pretty much anything under 2k and the car bucks some depending on load. I know that I will have to live with some of that because of the size of the cam. I've been thinking about installing 410 gears to help a little.
I was just wondering how much cam surge everyone else was dealing with. Also what gears are you runnning did more gear help you.

Its too be expected with a bigger than average cam. Yes gears will help dramatically.

 

Actually my cam surge is better below 3k with my gm847 than my buddies hotcam. I think it all depends on the tune. Mine was tuned by Ion as well.

 

Just grab another gear and learn how to drive it to keep the RPM's up.
Very normal for it to do that.

 

yeah and more rear end gear helps as well. 3.73-4.10s on a M6 are what that cam works the best with.

The tune can get most of it out though since it has less overlap area than a GM847

Thanks for the input. That is pretty much what I figured. Just thought that with gas prices being what they are I wanted a second opinion before going with more gear.

Use your tranny and not the rear gear.
