Dimensions are the same. The 1218 will allow up to .650" lift without coil bind issues. We recommend our PAC-1518 for anything above .600 lift because of the higher stress range. It's also a better spring for engines that will be turning higher RPMs. The nitriding and other added processes we do give the springs even better fatigue life then the 1218. I have ran the 1518 from free length to solid on our testers and haven't been able to break one after double our normal test length.
I'd be game to buy a couple of sets, heck maybe 3 or 4 since I have 2 LTx motors with .560-.600 lift cams.
Im not sure why Bret and LE don't use them to begin with as many sets of springs as those guys sell. LE uses the same 1218's I'm sure as him and Bret work very close together on their combos.
Notice to that even though the 1218 and 1518 deminsions are the same, the max lift on the 1518s is .650 and the 1218s is .600...wonder why that is?

The 1518's bring a $100+ premimum per set, but have a longer endurance. Almost a infinate life, but I don't really like saying that.
The reason we haven't used them in the packages is price. A premium spring, brings a premium price and that is something customers don't usually grasp in the greater market place. Not saying customers are dumb, but there are a lot of guys who don't understand the importance of valvesprings and why they are paying for a premium product when a cheaper one will do the job.
Personally I would put the nitited springs in my personal motors, but on most street builds running a hyd roller cam it's not a easy sell to put $300 springs in there, even though in the end they are cheaper thru less replacement cost of labor and parts.
Bret
