le2.2 spring life and what Miles you're replacing them at
 

Hi guys. I'm looking at installing le2.2 cam with afr 190 heds was wondering what kind of miles you've put on the Springs you have on your le2 or le2.2 set ups. I'm doing a355 that's going to be a daily driver. Just looking at how long I can get or how long you've got on your Springs bret says over 15,00 to 20,000 I am going to be looking into the PAC beehive Springs their comps old Springs that they used to use.

How does that help answer what kind of miles can springs for a 600+ lift cam last? A brand name was not mentioned.
I too would like to know what a reasonable number of miles would be. I got my PAC1218 springs and would like to know for a daily driver how often I'll be replacing them with a cam with more than 600 lift even though I won't be revving past 6400k.

I've personally seen motors making 400 rwhp have their springs last over 30k, if that helps you any. And even then they were just replaced because the owners felt like it, spring still worked.

30k isent a lot when you drive it every day and not driven hard till the week ehd and no moroso . i am thinking about going to a 503 and not installing the le2.2 with my afr 190 heds

Hey Pat, alot of the spring life is going to depend on how high you are going to rev it. The springs are going to start showing signs of getting weak at the higher rpms of course. If they get weak above 6500rpms, but you only rev it to 6k on a regular basis on the the w/e only, you may not have a problem for a few years of driving. Bret did mention that if I felt the pac1218s didn't last long enough, there was another spring he would suggest from pac that was treated differently and would last, but they are about $150 more and they had similar seat pressures as the pac1218.

To me, changing the springs yearly would be a pain...but maybe doing them every 2 or 3 years would be acceptable to me for a daily driver....a car just sitting is going to suffer probably even worse because the same srping could sit there compressed for weeks on end rather than at least having a different spring fully compressed when the car is off everytime you drive it each day.

Brett mentioned these springs to me to too bad we couldn't get 10 people together that only makes them 180 a piece I wonder if there's enough people out there to do 10 I'll probably do three this way I will have them for future spring replacements. Otherwise 300 some is pretty expensive.

If theye are that good that they could go many MANY years without replacing I would drop $300.00 in a second especiall;y when you factor in the PITA to replace them.

I have the PAC beehives in right now but I dont know if they are the cheaper 1218's or the more expensive. I got them from LE.

I did check those are them. I'm getting two sets let me know how many other people are interested. Compressed air in cylinder springs should come off with out dropping any valves done it plenty of times in the shop. It's just I do a lot of 95 driving to get to work so miles will be getting their quick I might also see if I can get a discount through my shop. I would think we'd be able to get 10 people or even to appease and five people being your going to need to do them later anyone and these better ones costs the same as the regular ones when bought in quantity

I'd be game to buy a couple of sets, heck maybe 3 or 4 since I have 2 LTx motors with .560-.600 lift cams.
Im not sure why Bret and LE don't use them to begin with as many sets of springs as those guys sell. LE uses the same 1218's I'm sure as him and Bret work very close together on their combos.

Notice to that even though the 1218 and 1518 deminsions are the same, the max lift on the 1518s is .650 and the 1218s is .600...wonder why that is?
