Custom mail-order tunes can be actually pretty darn accurate from some programmers. I had Ed Wright do one about 6 years ago on a super custom 3.4L (bored, balanced, ported, custom cam, fabricated plenum, etc....). I visited him about 3 months later to tune on his dyno thinking I could get more
out of it. Ended up spending $500 on a tune that gained me nothing.

Yeah, mail order tunes can be almost dead nuts. Ion did a great job with my set-up. In my case though, we found out the fuel pump was on its last leg.
As far as the LE1 being a daily driver, it should have been a factory option. As in, (saleman) so are you looking purchase a regular Z28 or a Z28 with the LE1 option. You might have to wait a few weeks, it's a very popular car.
