LE1, LE2, or LE3

Do the LE packages come with custom ground cams or are they shelf cams? Anyone know if they are emmissions legal? Ive noticed soemtime people refer to the LE cams as 1.2 or 1.5, 2.5 etc... What does this mean? Im strongly considering going with an LE package but i just wanted to gain a little knowledge so i can somewhat know what im talking about when i contact lloyd. Any input is appreciated....thanks

I would say that contacting Lloyd would be your best bet. But, I think anything too far beyond LE1 would have a hard time passing smog, depending on where you live. They are custom ground cams. 1.5, 2.5 etc. just means they are in-between cams. 1.5 being meaner than 1.0, but not quite as aggressive as 2.0. Hope that helps.

LE1 is comparable to Hot Cam, CC305, that size cam.

LE1.5 is slightly larger, like the CC503ish stuff but a little more power. Mine is a BRE cam, real similar to a LE1.5, but it lopes a good bit harder. Im really impressed with mine. It pulls STRONG for a "smaller" cam with just a little surging. And I think if I had gears, or some more time into a good tune, it would eliminate that too.

LE2 is more aggressive, sounds alot like a CC306, but makes a little more power/torque across the board but has a good bit more low end torque.

LE3 is like the GM847, but will make a little more across the board with the same street manners. For most people this is a little to big for street driving. Some like it, but many will get sick of it inless you have gears / stall

I suggest using the best heads you can afford (LE1, 2, 3) and then a cam to match what you are doing. If it MUST pass emissions, we have an emissions cam that is slightly milder than my LE1 cam that will do that.

B body, F body, Vette, A4, 6 speed, no stall, 2400, 2800, 3200, 3600 stall, 2.73, 3.08, 3.42, 3.73, 4.11 gears, stock bottom end, 355, 383, emissions, non emissions, smooth idle, rough idle, shift at 6000, 6200, 6400, etc, etc, there are just so many variables that we end up making new cams for people with less common set ups.

Customers get their cams and see the LE1, 1.2, 1.5, etc on the back and that is where people get these #'s from. Doesn't mean anything other than the cam we did for them and what fits their application best.

They are custom selected camshaft lobes and lobe separation angle from Comp Cams, not necessarily custom "ground".
