LE1 heads with no cam change?

I was wondering how many ponies you would see if you just swapped a set of LE1 heads for the stock ones and left the stock cam in there.

How much rwhp do you think you would see?

I am just thinking i don't want to change cams and run the risk of spinning a bearing. Then again it's probably not worth doing if you don't swap cams. How much would it cost to have the motor get new bearings assmuning you pulled the motor out yourself.

Can't help you with that specific setup, but my car dynoed 280RWHP bone stock. The main differences from a stock f-body were:
Ram Air intake
SLP dual/dual
extrude honed exhaust manifolds
LT4, which is primarily just LT4 heads
With ECM tuning it went up to 311RWHP, so I'd bet with just heads and ECM tuning you could pick up a pretty big gain.

I think you'd see a decent gain if you just did the heads (with proper valve springs), 1.6 or 1.7 rockers, and impy ss head gaskets.

good info
with the better flow, rr's (prob wanna go 1.7) would help take advantage of it
that's why some guys add them before they wanna go all out and do a cam change

Re: LE1 heads with no cam change?

I'm running LE heads, 1.6 RR, mac headers and the stock cam. I have not gotten it tuned yet but it feels pretty fast. it lost a bit of low end TQ but pulls hard up top. This is in a A4 with stock stall.

If I confirm that I don't have a bad bearing it will be getting tuned here soon. I'll post up the #'s if it ever hapens.

Re: LE1 heads with no cam change?

I trapped 103 mph with ported lt1 heads on stock cam/ stock manifolds + the other mods listed in my sig. 3540 raceweight.

Another local here went 12.8 @ 108mph with stock cam, stock heads, etc by using lt4 springs and 1.6 rrs.. (m6, 4:10s, the usual)
