I feel there is plenty left in this setup. Its the attention to detail that sets some cars off from others. Clint is dedicated enough to work on thos small details.

didnt you read the last part of my post? I have a some what similar setup minus the solid roller, with a smaller cam and he is putting 7-8 mph on ME. I was just venting my frustration at my inferiour setup.....

There's alot to getting those finishing touches on a motor that make a big difference in the setup...

Checking the cam on install (degree wheel, etc), valvetrain geometry, quench, final compression on the engine build, converter selection, gear selection.. etc.

I believe I also have about 6 or 7 mph on you with the same setup in an A4... I went through all of the above checks during my build.

Just some things to think about.

Yup your pretty much kickin my **** as well...... I degreed the cam on install. and valve train I checked and had to run a shorter pushrod with the morels. Gear selection could be hurting me (3.70) but that shouuldne affect the MPH that much. quench and final compression are the only unknowns. the block is stock untouched and the heads were just "trued" up so stock commpression is what I figured. AFR is dead on, If i add any more timign I start getting spark knock. the intake I ported so i know I could probably send that out for a few more HP but not enough to pick up 7mph...... Oh well my car has ALWAYS been slow compaired to other similar cars, its just something ive come to embrace.....

Have you ever thrown it on the dyno to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it like valve float or the ignition breaking up?

That's not how you find the right timing. I hate seeing people say this but as much timing as you can get before spark knock can easilly be too much and not be the ignition lead that makes optimal power.

Yup found out the fuel pump was cutting out at 4K and the Opti was starting to go. since then replaced the opti and fuel pump. made 362 with a bad fuel pump...... havent been back since, just been using the datalogs and track times to see how its running.

Here you go Brett, I posted this on the first post.
The power brakes work fine and I don't have a dyno sheet b/c after making 16 pulls and working on the car most of the day I loaded up and went home. But I plan to go by and get the graphs later on this week. Thanks guys. Later
Clint,

I got that one already thanks.... I was just reffering to how you were impressed with the power down low and being able to yank the tires that hard. I realize I might not come off the right way with what I type.

Thanks also goes out to Tim Herrington (95 Bird) for helping me out with a tune and some tuning wisdom. I am ready to see that red Firebird at the track banging gears. Later Thanks guys.

Clint, I checked out the link in GM mag...nice pics of the car man. And dude, if you only had a sleeveless flannel shirt on...lol. I love the hood on that thing too. How much weight did it save?

Rick, I'll be looking for you too at NPR. Seems like I seen that Vette out there already...nyce ride man. ***Hopefully*** when I get in (and the King gets my WS6 finished) I'll be out there to have some fun.

No doubt, I could have gotten into the 10's by just pulling the passenger seat (40+pounds) but I wasn't expecting for the car to run that well on the first nite out.
