Kook's LT's on a lowered car..pics inside

I did a writeup about my kook's longtubes a few months back, and I recently had my car lowered. I went with Eibach Pro-Kit springs and Bilstein struts on all 4 corners. This setup is supposed to be good for a 1.3" lowered stance..I haven't scraped my headers yet, just the radiator shroud a few times. Anyways here's some pics of the ground clearance on some Kook's headers with a lowered car...

*EDIT* I had placed a soda can underneath the car for height reference..the can is placed AGAINST (touching) the y-pipe. Last picture will give you the best idea on how low it is - Note the can barely visible to the right.

yeah, there is one speed bump in my apartment complex that almost anyone in a car scrapes on, I'd hate to think what mine would do if I had LT's on. Although I am still looking at getting Kook's when I do my 396.

Everybody tells me I need to get some 18's. I'm gonna keep the stock ones cause personally I'd rather spend $2k on performance mods than a set of 18" ROH's. Besides, soon I'm gonna get another car (POS daily driver) and put some ET Streets on the 16" stockers

YES! Exactly how i think. My entire front end bumper, hood, headlights, even wheels are spray painted. Paint isn't going to make me any faster, so i see no point in spending alot of money on it. Hell my front and rear wheels dont even match (WS6 from 17x11 ZR1s rear). I was mainly asking because i had never seen those wheels before. I mean i had seen them on V6s, but never V8s.

The only downside to the low ground clearance on the header is that when you scrape the header on a speedbump or something, thee flange twists and it could create a gap between the head and the flange, ths resulting in a blown header gasket. And we all know how much of a pain they are to replace. (I'm up to my 3rd header gasket this time I went for the earls aluminum gasket)

Re: Kook's LT's on a lowered car..pics inside

I've been there and done all that with a lowered 69 Camaro. One thing that helped was I welded a 1/4" skid plate to the lower primaries. The plate would take all the abuse and the pipes never got crushed or rubbed through.

This time around I've decided the 10-20HP the LTs may give me over my AS&Ms isn't worth the problems. Plus I have to run cats and that is a whole other can of worms.
