Kooks LT1 Headers are great!
Re: Kooks LT1 Headers are great!
If it has the 3 bolt flange already on it, then obviously you can't use a clamp on there.
You are not being very descritive or clear on what you have parts wise.
I also do not recomend using a clamp on the collector since I have NEVER seen a clamp such as those seal tightly and with the O2 not being far from there, you can get some skewed readings off the O2's which will cause the pcm to compensate and screw up your tune.
BTW (to the Formula guy), I did realize you were being a smartass, but I was trying to provide all available information...

I don't know what I need...Do I just use the nuts/bolts that came with it to tighten it down? I wasn't sure if there is a better way. I haven't gotten the y pipe yet, but I have Jet Hot LT's.

I'm still having problems with the steering shaft but I'm just going to have to take more off of the bolt that holds the two together.

Check out my cardomain at http://www.cardomain.com/id/94sinister for pics of Kook's headers with the clamps.(PAGES 5-6) Using clamps instead of a 3 bolt flange gives you better ground clearance.
For the guy in Mesa, AZ that's where I'm from. If you want to put long tubes on your dual-cat car you need to get a kook's y-pipe, have a custom y-pipe built, or you can go with true duals. AZ does have emissions, so you can run an offroad y-pipe until your emissions come and put some cat's on OR just have a custom y-pipe built with cats already on it.

It all depends on what type of Y-pipe you get. I believe the Jet Hot Y-pipe will have a matching 3 bolt triangle flange on the y-pipe ends and it might even come with bolts to attach them.
Otherwise, just go down to the hardware store and buy some grade 8 bolts, nuts and lock washers (or crown/lock nuts.) I usually get a 9/16" head which I believe is a 1/2 shank of the bolt. 1" or 1.5" long should be fine.
Also, the Copper ebossed SCE brand gaskets are great and I've never had an issue with them sealing.

Are the smog laws in Arizona more laxed then California and other states? Do they only do a sniffer test, no visual inspection?
Because moving the cats at ALL fails visual inspection. And removing or replacing the cats before 50,000 miles (if cats are not damaged) is illegal as well.
The Kooks cannot be used for a "technical" smog legal car. I'm sure you can pass smog with Kooks on in some states/shops though.
Re: Kooks LT1 Headers are great!
I'm pretty sure that there is no visual inspection. I've been told that they are very lax anyways. A member of the AZFBA even passed the sniffer with no cats and an aftermarket cam (LS1) on a very good tune.

Wow, I'm jealous... folks out here are being sent to the smog ref for stupid things as painted valve covers and polished brake/ac lines.
Most of them are ricers, but still...

I'd like to meet up with you one day man and check out your car. I'm wanting LT's but dont want to hassle with the morons thinking my car would do more damage than all the busses out here do. Would also be nice to get a few ideas of how they are ran.
Re: Kooks LT1 Headers are great!
I will be going to the dyno this friday so I should have some before and after results for you. My cars best dyno numbers before the headers are in my sig, nothing has been changed since then except the wheel/tire combo. I will get a base run with the dual cut-outs closed and then one with them open, after that I start the tuning to see if I can gain any more.
